The Lighthouse Baptist Mission had its beginnings in 1997 when the Lord gave
Brother Joseph Ziel a burden to start a nursing home ministry. The first
nursing home under this outreach was Eastchester Nursing Home. About two
years later, the Lord added Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. In 2001, the
brethren discovered East Haven Nursing Home, and soon after it was also to
become part of the outreach, as the church was graciously received there.
Finally, in February of 2002, the church was blessed unexpectedly.
Representatives of Morris Park Nursing Home contacted us and requested that
we minister to the residents there as well. Currently, the church visits
each of these nursing homes at least once a month. The gospel is preached
and the saints encouraged in the Lord at every service.
The outreach of the Lighthouse Baptist Mission also includes Bridges
Youth Facility and Horizon Youth Facility. The Lord opened these doors after
almost four years of attempts to go into such a field, and has tremendously
blessed our efforts. The ministry was established at Bridges first, and
Horizon came several months later. Up to five brethren at a time visit every
month. Each service at these facilities is a blessed opportunity to reach
young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
